R-TECH Materials consists of two materials companies; R-TECH Services and Metamet Consultants. Through these businesses, R-TECH Materials offers comprehensive materials testing, analysis, characterisation and consultancy services.
With a highly experienced team of professional materials scientists, engineers and chemists we offer a fast, reliable service across a wide range of materials and industries. We have a skilled and experienced technician staff, with extensive laboratory facilities at our disposal, and links to partner companies to further extend our capabilities.
Industries in which we work include oil and gas, petrochemical, construction, marine, automotive, power generation, metals and manufacturing.
The UKAS accredited testing and analysis laboratories include static testing machines from 100kN to 1500kN capacity, and dynamic testing machines from 100kN to 400kN capacity. Static testing can be in tension, compression, flexure or shear. We have a bespoke facility for creep testing of polymer resins.Our UKAS accredited scope includes a range of standard tests on polymers and composites, and we are recognised for independent testing of materials from around the world. We are able to test supplied samples, or to make up laminates for testing. Make-up facilities include hand lay-up, hot pressing, autoclave, water jet and diamond cutting.
In addition to mechanical testing, we have a range of chemical analysis and materials characterisation facilities available, including thermal analysis, chemical analysis, optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, EDX miroanalysis, X-Ray diffraction etc. We are also able to conduct a range of corrosion tests.
With our in-house workshop facilities, we are able to design and manufacture rigs to adapt our test equipment for bespoke testing of both samples and products.
With our team of qualified and experienced engineers, materials scientists and chemists we are able to provide laboratory-based materials consultancy services. This commonly includes failure analysis, product quality issues, processing problems, supplier and customer complaints etc. We have experience of preparing reports and acting as expert witness in legal cases.
We are able to handle jobs from a simple one-off set of tests to larger scale research and development projects.

R-Tech Materials has achieved Nadcap accreditation for the testing of non-metallic materials for the aerospace industry. The scope of accreditation covers a range of mechanical tests on composite materials, and opens the way for R-Tech to offer its testing services to the aerospace sector.
