Nägeli Swiss AG is a family-run SME with around 25 employees. As a supplier, it manufactures customer-specific components with increased requirements regarding material and precision.
The company was founded by Ernst Nägeli in Arbon as a stamping company in 1941 and quickly acquired an international sales market for ball bearing cages and screw locks (toothed and tension washers). In 1948, Ernst Nägeli moved production to its present location in Güttingen TG at Lake Constance. In 1956 and 1970, the premises were expanded and new production and office buildings were inaugurated.
Forming machines …
In the following years and decades, the punching and deep drawing technology was continually developed, know-how developed for the processing of higher quality materials, and the competence strengthened to develop component and process-optimised solutions together with the customer.
Today, in addition to the processing of conventional deep drawing piles, Nägeli Swiss AG specializes in the transformation of stainless steel, aluminum, brass and titanium with material thicknesses from 0.04 to approx. 5 mm. The internal tool design and own tool construction ensure a minimisation of the development time up to the delivery of the initial samples. With the in-house hardening and assembling, interesting follow-up operations can be offered from a single source.
In addition to the supply of components to B2B customers, Nägeli Swiss AG also manufactures a finished product with the Nägeli-PICA cutters. Thanks to a special blade geometry, the tree, vine and garden shears produced by punching and shaping enable the required force to be minimised. Together with a scissor box and a saw, a unique cut is made, which is very popular with both professional and amateur gardeners.
… and fibre composite
Since the mid-80s, the company has also been involved in fibre composite technology. From product development through prototyping, individual production to serial production, Nägeli Swiss AG is an expert contact. The versatility of the material is continually broadening the range of parts and customers – in the project, for example, components for aerospace, sports, hydroelectric power, Formula 1, mechanical engineering and the music industry. In 1994 the company received the certificate as an approved supplier for the European aerospace industry as part of a series production of components for the Dornier DO328 aircraft. In 2006 the iF Gold Award – a European Design Prize – was accepted for a robot arm for the packaging industry.
