A major North American aircraft seating manufacturer has selected UK composites engineering company W & J Tod of Somerset to design and manufacture thermoplastic flooring and partitioning to be used in the re-styling of the Club World seating areas for a major European airline.
The contract is worth about £3⁄4 million. B/E Aerospace Inc.of North Carolina has an enviable worldwide reputation for the quality of their products, and has been convinced of the benefits of working with Tod’s thermoplastic materials for these aircraft interior components.
W & J Tod are specialists in the design of lightweight, high strength thermoplastic and composite products for both military and commercial aircraft, and are already accredited suppliers to a number of manufacturers, including; BAe, Airbus and AugustaWestland.
On announcing the contract, W & J Tod’s Aerospace Director, Tom Hitchings said: “This is an excellent breakthrough with a key U.S. aircraft interior provider. B/E Aerospace is respected worldwide in this sector, and we are proud to be working with them on this project. TODS have an established reputation for the innovative design and build of seating products, including structural aircraft fl ooring. Together we will make a good team”.
