Victrex USA is to construct a second manufacturing facility at its main UK site in Thornton Cleveleys, Lancashire for the production of VICTREX PEEK high performance polymer.

The new plant will have a 1,450 tonne (3,190,000 pound) annual capacity, enabling it to meet the sustained growth in demand for VICTREX PEEK. The new plant represents a 50% increase in production capacity for the company. Current capacity stands at 2,800 tonnes (6,160,000 pounds) annually.

“”With an estimated capital cost of £29m (approximately $53.5m), the construction of the new plant is scheduled to begin in spring 2006 with completion expected in late 2007,”” says Tim Walker, Production and Technical Director at Victrex plc. “”The new 1,200 square-meter (12,917 sq. ft.) plant will be a state-of-the-art, automated facility. It will provide further security of supply to customers, both in terms of increased capacity and as a second, stand-alone, source of VICTREX PEEK.””

“”This investment will ensure that we continue to meet the growing global demands of our customers and provide rapid access to VICTREX PEEK for both new and existing applications,”” says Blair Souder, Commercial Director at Victrex plc. “”VICTREX PEEK helps customers reduce systems costs, accelerate part performance, exploit greater design freedom, and create a differentiated application.””
