VELOX is working closely with AEC Polymers to develop new solutions for the marine sector.
According to VELOX, it distributes industrial adhesives in Europe, including the SAF range of structural adhesives based on bi-component methacrylate adhesive technology for bonding large parts within short working times.
VELOX explains that, after many successes in sailing competitions (e.g. offshore race trimaran Arkema) and in the manufacture of large series boats, the patented range of SAF adhesives, continues to be favoured within the marine and boat building sectors. Thanks to a solid partnership, VELOX and AEC Polymers enabled the construction of FeliX, a recently-launched catamaran. This new ship is designed to conduct oceanographic and hydrographic missions and left the H2X shipyard in La Ciotat at the end of May. The total construction process took only 11 months as a result of the internal knowledge and resources of all parties.
Pascal Dubois, Advanced Composites Business Development Manager at VELOX, said, “We are proud to offer the SAF range as the solutions demonstrate excellent resistance and durability in harsh conditions whilst being safe for users and the environment. Through its very high mechanical properties and high elongation at break, the use of SAF30 LOT (Long Open Time), can significantly improve productivity in workshops by reducing labour costs and avoiding local laminating processes.”
He continued, “The exceptional properties of the SAF range of adhesives enable structural bonding whilst accommodating high differential thermal expansion and vibrations. No specific primer application is required for surface preparation, which further improves productivity and convenience.”
