Rongpeng Wang, a doctoral student in chemistry at the Missouri University of Science and Technology, is the winner of the Thermoset Resin Formulators Association’s (TRFA) 2nd Annual Excellence in Thermoset Polymer Research Award.
TRFA explain that his paper, “”Epoxidised Glycidyl Ester of Soybean Oil as Reactive Diluent for Epoxy Resin,”” will be presented at the TRFA 2011 Annual Meeting, September 11-13 in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.
Fazel Yavari, a student in the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace and Nuclear Engineering at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, has received an Honourable Mention honours for his paper on “Dramatic Increase in Fatigue Life in Hierarchical Graphene Composites.”
TRFA initiated the award in 2010 for student researchers to encourage and recognize advances in the science & engineering of thermosetting polymers. In addition, TRFA believes the award can provide the recipient with visibility and exposure in the industry. They say the award consists of a $500 cash award and an award plaque, an invitation to present the paper at the TRFA annual meeting, two-nights’ accommodation at the event, and posting of the winning paper on TRFA’s website.
