Toho Tenax America has joined AltusGroup as an Innovation Partner to contribute their technical expertise and marketing strength toward the advancement carbon fibre grid reinforcement.

“The addition of Toho Tenax to the AltusGroup team helps keep us ahead of technical developments and supply trends in the quickly evolving carbon fibre market,” says Harry A. Gleich, P.E., FACI, FPCI, chairman of AltusGroup’s Technical Committee and Vice President of Engineering for Metromont, a founding AltusGroup precaster. “As the tensile strength and modulus properties of carbon fibre are essential to C-GRID performance in CarbonCast precast concrete, our members and customer will benefit from Toho Tenax’s expertise and technology.”

“Toho Tenax has made, and continues to make very good progress to improve its supply position towards the global industrial end-use markets,” says Rob Klawonn, VP Sales and Business Development of Toho Tenax America. “Toho Tenax has successfully completed the manufacturing ramp-up of its newest carbon fibre line in Rockwood, which produces fibre intended for industrial markets. In 2008, the Toho Tenax group will commission the world’s largest carbon fibre line in Mishima, Japan with products aimed at the fast-growing industrial markets.”

AltusGroup, Inc. is a partnership of more than a dozen of the industry’s largest precasters and C-GRID developer, TechFab LLC. It was formed to make CarbonCast technology and future innovations available throughout North America. CarbonCast is an innovative precast technology that uses C-GRID carbon fibre grid for secondary reinforcing and shear transfer.
