DUXTON Windows & Doors has completed an innovative installation of Fiberglass Strip windows at an Elim Chapel addition. The feature window segment consists of a panel 52 feet by 12 feet.
Bockstael Construction completed this complex project of integrating a completely new building (replacement due to a loss by fire two years ago) and a 75 year old main chapel. “DUXTON proved to be a very dependable supplier. We were impressed with their ability to create an impressive framing system, assemble and glaze on site,” says Barry Tustin, project manager.
The window system was engineered for specific wind loading by building in “isolated” (ensures excellent U-values) galvanized steel reinforcements. Furthermore, DUXTON provided large insulating glass panels by AFG featuring Ti-R e/Argon c/w Super Spacer for maximum energy efficiency and interior comfort.
Elim’s technical project coordinator, Frank Roberts, P.Eng, of F.A. Roberts & Associates, “We are very impressed with DUXTON’s window solution. It has created a very pleasant connection between two separate buildings. In addition, the window frames have remained warm despite Winnipeg’s extremely cold window weather.”
