Terrafugia has selected Simulayt’s Advanced Fiber Modeler (AFM) to design and develop composite components for the Transition Roadable Aircraft.
Categorized as a Light Sport Aircraft, the Transition requires a Sport Pilot certificate to fly. It is a two-seat aircraft designed to take off and land at local airports and drive on any road.
Ben Zelnick, Vehicle Engineer from Terrafugia commented: “Advanced Fiber Modeler is a great complement to our existing CATIA V5 Composites Design solution. Being able to realistically model fiber orientations in our ply-by-ply laminate models allows us to completely optimize our design by conducting accurate structural analyses, which is invaluable in reducing the weight of the Transition. The accurate flat patterns from Advanced Fiber Modeler save valuable time and material during manufacture.”
