After an international bidding process, Tecnatom will supply a new inspection system to Harbin Hafei Airbus Composite Manufacturing Centre (HHACMC), the joint venture between Airbus and its Chinese partners.
According to Tecnatom, this latest contract adds to another of its ultrasonic inspection system for aircraft composite components delivered in 2011 to the same customer.
Tecnatom explains that it continues to strengthen its position in the Chinese aerospace market thanks to the award which reinforces its relationship with one of the main centres of composite components. This factory, located in North East of China, produces composite parts for the A350 XWB and A320 programmes.
Tecnatom says that, its new inspection system incorporates its latest technology in a more advanced and flexible configuration, by using two robots (Taurus Twin) which moves on a set of 15 meters linear tracks. This is the second Tecnatom’s inspection system in this plant, which already supplied in 2011 a Cartesian system with two vertical arms that offers the possibility of multi-technique: pulse-echo phased-array and water jet transmission inspection.
In total there are four systems provided by Tecnatom to China, two located in COMAC (Shanghai Aircraft and Beijing R&D factories) and AVIC, plus both mentioned in Harbin. Its subsidiary Tecnatom China will provide technique support.
