TechFab has officially commenced operations using its new C-GRID production line at its Anderson, SC headquarters.

C-GRID, a novel patented carbon fibre epoxy grid reinforcement developed by TechFab, is used for a wide range of concrete reinforcement applications including precast concrete, shotcrete, decorative uses, cast in place, as well as repair and rehabilitation strengthening applications.

TechFab is a founding member of the Altus Group and provides C-GRID exclusively to its Altus Group member partners for the manufacture of CarbonCast precast products, which include High Performance Insulated Wall Panels, Architectural Cladding, Doubletee products and Residential System Components. C-GRID is currently used by the Altus Group as secondary reinforcement replacing welded wire mesh, as well as in trusses for shear transfer reinforcement in wall panels, and architectural cladding.

“This commercialization program and plant expansion has been in the making for several years now,” said TechFab Vice President and GM Bruce Hinton. “We are extremely excited about producing C-GRID technology here in Anderson and look forward to the business it will create nationally for TechFab and for South Carolina.”

John Carson, director of commercial development for TechFab, noted “The new C-GRID line will satisfy the demand for cost effective composite reinforcements which heretofore have limited composite use penetration in the intensely competitive building and construction products segment.”

C-GRID technology utilizes primarily industrial grade Panex Fiber supplied by Zoltek for its grid manufacture operations.
