Techfab has launched a major new business and market development initiative entitled “Strength Plus”.

Its purpose is to greatly expand market penetration, awareness, and subsequent use for its nonwoven scrims, scrim composites, and grid technology products via a comprehensive sales and marketing program. The initiative will explore a wide array of markets and applications ranging from wood based products, thermoplastics, electrical, thermal and sound management, composite process incorporation and filtration, to name a few.

Techfab, LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Chomarat US, a part of Group Chomarat and has long been recognized for its PVC coated fibreglass scrim reinforcements used primarily in the building and construction markets.

The “Strength Plus” initiative, according to John Carson, Director of Commercial Development for Techfab, is focused on providing unique reinforcement solutions for specific applications where incremental reinforcement is required. John Leatham, Sales Manager for Techfab, noted that there are significant growth trends in the construction industry to cost effectively use more reinforcement fabrics. He cited the roofing industry’s use of underlayments as one such example. In addition, there is increased demand for new products to provide greater impact resistance in drywall products and hurricane resistant structures to satisfy more stringent building code requirements in Florida and coastal regions. These opportunities reflect the beginning of a new growth trend for specialized reinforcement fabrics that help create engineered structures with improved performance attributes for manufacturers. Techfab manufactures adhesive bonded nonwoven scrims, scrim composites, carbon fibre C-GRID and MeC-GRID structural Grids using fibreglass, polyester, aramid and other high performance fibers. Adhesive binder systems used by Techfab include PVC, Latex, SBR, urethanes, and epoxy thermoset resins. Examples of applications for the company’s products include cement and concrete reinforcement, roofing systems and infrastructure repair and rehabilitation products.
