AltusGroup and TechFab have completed their “Precast on a Diet” tour, a nine-city US Tour that continued the education and outreach advancement of their carbon fibre reinforcement for use in precast concrete in North America.

A key feature element of the tour included a giant 73-foot long flat bed precast product viewing trailer. At each tour stop, attendees boarded the trailer following daylong seminars highlighting and demonstrating CarbonCast precast carbon fibre made using their C-GRID reinforcement.

The “Precast on a Diet” tour truck allowed tour-goers an up-close and personal perspective of precast concrete wall panel samples, architectural panels, a mock double tee deck and a residential stem deck.

Following six months of intensive planning and preparation, over 300 people from nearly 250 companies attended the tour stops and received 7.5 health, safety and welfare continuing education credits from the American Institute of Architects.

Featuring an appearance on the plaza at the Reagan Building in Washington D.C. and a short visit from Atlanta mayor Shirley Franklin while in Atlanta, the “Precast on a Diet” tour truck also visited New York City, Philadelphia, Raleigh, Charlotte, Atlanta, Cincinnati, St. Louis and Chicago.

To further their outreach and education efforts, a fall tour is being planned.
