Swift Engineering has passed the aerospace industry’s composite manufacturing quality controls for special processes and gained Nadcap accreditation.

Swift recently added the Performance Review Institute’s (PRI) Nadcap AC7118: audit criteria for composites to its existing AS9100 & ISO9001 certifications for its manufacturing of large, complex composite structures.

According to Swift, achieving Nadcap accreditation is critical to their continued growth and demonstrates their commitment to prime aerospace global clients. As a part of its growth strategy, Swift say they have also begun expanding their onsite manufacturing resources in southern California with the installation of two new ASC autoclaves (sizes: 10′ x 30′ and 4′ x 8′), laser tracking inspection and laser projector devices for composite material lay-ups; as well as the construction of product lamination rooms and an Instron/materials testing lab expected to be completed by next year.

“Firstly, I want to congratulate and recognise the entire Swift team who has worked diligently across all departments to further our commitment to aerospace composite manufacturing excellence to achieve Nadcap accreditation,” said Swift President, Jan Wesley Refsdal. “PRI’s rigorous Nadcap certification process is the only official special process certification audit approved and managed by the aerospace industry and highlights the importance of aerospace’s tight product tolerances.”

In addition to gaining Nadcap accreditation, Swift is also an active voting member of Nadcap’s Composites Task Group (CTG). In this role, Swift contributes to Nadcap audit checklist development and procedural review. “Achieving Nadcap accreditation is not easy: it is one of the ways in which the aerospace industry identifies those who excel at manufacturing quality product through superior special processes. Companies such as Swift Engineering, Inc. work hard to obtain this status and they should be justifiably proud of it,” said Joe Pinto, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at the Performance Review Institute. “PRI is proud to support continual improvement in the aerospace industry by helping companies such as Swift Engineering, Inc. be successful and we look forward to continuing to assist the industry moving forward.”
