Stork Fokker has signed a contract with Boeing Commercial Airplanes for the design, development, manufacturing and supply chain management of the initial series of inboard flaps on the 747-8 Program.
The composite inboard flaps increase the surface of the wing during take-off and landing. Stork Fokker already holds a successful position as a Boeing supplier for major complex aerostructures in military Boeing program and is therefore considered a milestone for Stork Fokker. The components will be manufactured in Papendrecht and Hoogeveen. This two-year contract will include the design and build of all tooling and the build of the initial series of the Inboard Flaps.
For Stork Fokker AESP this contract is a breakthrough in the relation with Boeing Commercial Airplanes and recognition of the company’s design and program-management skills as well as its engineering capability.
Stork Aerospace VP Marketing and Sales, Henk Valk stated: “”The selection of Stork Aerospace clearly reflects the confidence that Boeing has in our company and in our dedicated specialized employees. This program offers great potential for the future and positions us even stronger as a sizable specialist in the structures market. Following a series of contract awards from Boeing for 737, 737-800 and 777 wiring, the 737MMA Raked Wing Tips and the 747 LCF and 747-8 engineering assistance, we are delighted with this new commitment. It is an honour to be part of the team working on the 747-8.””
