Gel-coat specialist Sogel has released its one-step metallic gel coat to the North American Market.
The one-step process is an improvement on most alternatives currently available, which commonly offer three or four-step processes; this helps to reduce application time, labour and raw materials.
Developers say that the gel coat can be applied without porosity, using traditional airless equipment. The gel coats are said to provide excellent weather resistance, gloss retention and low colour variation and they do not require a clear gel coat to protect the metallic finish from climate conditions.
Sogel believe that the product is ideal for the marine and transportation industries, a claim that has been supported by the industry; up to present, Sogel’s metallic get coats have been used in the production of more than 100,000 marine and transportation parts.
