Sicomin, showcased their range of marine product solutions at METS 2014.
As a valued partner and established supplier of specialist resins to the European marine market for over 30 years, Sicomin helps manufacturers produce boats that are stronger, lighter and more durable than ever before. Many of their products have also achieved Lloyd’s Register and Germanischer Lloyd classifications.
At the show, Sicomin placed particular emphasis on solutions for the superyacht and racing yacht applications. Product highlights included:
This Lloyd’s Register approved, fast curing epoxy was developed in response to manufacturers looking for a easy hand-laminating system. Used in conjunction with Sicomin’s range of hardeners, the products can be mixed for intermediate reactivity. During Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) tests, SR 1280’s Tg onset is calculated at approximately 100°C therefore demonstrating good mechanical properties. It is ideal for the manufacture of masts, hulls and roofs.
SR 8100 is designed specifically for infusion and RTM techniques. In addition to Lloyd’s Register certification, it has also achieved Germanischer Lloyd approval and is already used by many of Sicomin’s Marine customers. A two component system, SR 8100 is compatible with a variety of hardeners offering users greater flexibility in terms of working times and allows the manufacture of a wide variety of small to large components with rapid remoulding time.
As the original innovator of structural foaming epoxies, Sicomin has applied their formulation expertise and produced an enhanced range of multiple density foaming systems and hardeners. These advanced products allow customers to produce strong, high-quality parts with structural cores and bonded laminate skins such as boat rudders, windsurf boards and local reinforcements.
A new generation, ultra-fast, coating formulation for carbon and varnished components. TOP CLEAR is UV stable with very fast hardening and self -levelling characteristics and provides a high gloss, translucent finish that can be applied by brush or spray on a range of substrates including glass, aramids, wood and carbon. It is also suitable for use as a gel-coat.
Already qualified for use within the Aerospace sector by key manufacturers such as Airbus and Dassault, Sicomin continues to develop their Fire Retardant systems with a specially formulated range for Marine applications. Further details around these highly specialised products will be announced at the show.
