Scott Bader have set up a new, coloured gelcoat mixing and delivery service for the German FRP composites market in Bodo Moeller Chemie’s (BMC) facilities located in Offenbach am Main, near Frankfurt, Germany.
According to BMC, a single 25kg keg of spray or brush Crystic 65PA Rapide or LS97PA Rapide gelcoat or topcoat can now be produced in any RAL colour in less than 30 minutes to a high level of colour accuracy, even for greys and darker colours. They say Crystic ‘Rapide’ gelcoat orders have been typically processed and delivered anywhere in Germany in three to five working days; and the minimum order is only a single 25kg keg of a particular RAL colour. BMC say that the key advantage of this new coloured gelcoat keg service is that it combines a very fast delivery with the quality and long-term performance reputation of Scott Bader Crystic gelcoats. Customers can order either Crystic 65PA ‘Rapide’ for brush application or Crystic LS97PA ‘Rapide’ for spray application; both are isophthalic gelcoats, suitable for a broad range of demanding industrial, building and transport applications.
BMC holds and manages stocks of all the Crystic ‘Rapide’ gelcoat and topcoat bases needed for the system in Offenbach am Main. Crystic Rapide system materials are supplied to order from Scott Bader’s gelcoat factories in the UK and France where they are manufactured. BMC explain that they also carry a comprehensive range of Scott Bader pigments, which must be exclusively used in the Crystic ‘Rapide’ system to provide both the colour match accuracy and gelcoat performance quality in use. To ensure consistent quality, Scott Bader say they developed the Crystic ‘Rapide’ service around exactly the same marine gelcoat base technology and pigments as are used in larger batch Crystic gelcoat production; the same rigorous quality pre checks are done on all ‘Rapide’ gelcoat and topcoat bases and pigments.
Scott Bader says that since there appointment as official independent national distributor of their Crystic products in Germany in Sept 2010, the composites business has developed well. They say that BMC’s existing resin and gelcoat production skills, combined with their strong technical, quality and solutions culture makes them ideally qualified to provide a reliable Crystic ‘Rapide’ gelcoat pigmenting service to composites customers located in Germany. Mr. Steffen Pfeiffer of BMC stated “Our technical team has been impressed with the RAL colour accuracy and consistency of Scott Bader’s Crystic Rapide gelcoat system. Quality and consistency is critical for our customers in Germany and Austria. This new coloured 25kg gelcoat keg service fits perfectly with our Company’s philosophy and goal; to offer our customers the best solutions which will enables them to do their business better and more efficiently.”
Scott Bader explain the Crystic ‘Rapide’ service is now operational in seven plants; three from their resin and gelcoat production plants in the UK, France and Dubai, with other Crystic ‘Rapide’ 25kg coloured gelcoat services provided by three independent distributors in Europe; CSV in Poland, Terpol OY in Finland and in Spain via Plastiform, near Madrid, linked with the other regional Spanish distributors for Crystic resins, gelcoats, bonding pastes and structural adhesives.
