SAMPE and MIL-17 Composites Handbook Team Up at SAMPE 2004

The MIL-17 Composite Materials Handbook Organization will collaborate at SAMPE 2004 this year.

Two programmed events are planned that are designed to educate SAMPE 2004 attendees on advances with the MIL-17 Handbook, which has been developing and maintaining the Composite Materials Handbooks based on user needs for the past forty years.

Both the FAA and NASA, who are the funding agents for the MIL-17 Handbook, have also been jointly working on related Composites Safety and Certification Initiatives (CS&CI) with the industry. Consequently, for the first time, the MIL-17 Handbook Organization will put on two educational and training related events within the May 16-20, SAMPE 2004 program held at the Long Beach Convention Centre, Long Beach, California.

The two MIL-17 Handbook events are

MIL-17 Composite Materials Handbook Tutorial: Today’s Standard Has Changed. This is a 4-hour focused tutorial on the makeup of the new MIL-17 Handbook volumes (6) and FAA-related activities that are supported by MIL-17.

There is also a 4-hour interactive Panel/Audience session that discusses the current MIL-17 Handbook and FAA’s Composite Safety and Certification Initiatives (CS&CI) with recognized industry and government experts who are actively part of these current developments. The MIL-17 Handbook Organization will also have a booth on the SAMPE 2004 Exhibition the years.
