RocTool partners with two innovation champions, who were presented with JEC Innovation Awards at JEC Europe 2014.

According to RocTool its 3iTech technology contributed to Motorola’s mobile device back covers, which won the “Mobile Devices” category at the JEC Europe show, and Expliseat’s composite, titanium aeroplane seats which were awarded first place in the “Aircraft Interiors” category.

RocTool claims that Motorla’s back covers excellent surface quality, which offers many possible finishes, was made possible by RocTool technology. It suggests that the cycle time obtained with its systems means that the combined production capacity for MotoX and Ultra is now greater than 50,000 units per day .

Expliseat used RocTools inductive coils directly in a steel compression mould. This exclusive technology met the challenges to design and manufacture the titanium aeroplane seat.

RocTool says it is working towards a new patent which will enable to make parts without a press, using an electromagnetic induction mould. The company’s technology has been adapted to light tooling/out of autoclave to reduce cycle time of technologies still using autoclaves, allowing them to produce parts in a few minutes and in a single mould. This represents massive energy savings and RocTool says this technology can be used to mould all materials, including ecological ones.
