R-Tech Materials will be exhibiting at JEC 2016, Paris, France from 8-10 March 2016 and using the opportunity to introduce its testing and consultancy services to the composites sector.
According to R-TECH, it has experience in the accredited third party testing of resin and reinforcement materials for use in the marine industry, and is the laboratory partner for Lloyd’s Register EMEA, providing testing services in the field of non-metallic materials, and collaborating on common research themes. In this sector, R-TECH has some unique capability, and is able to offer the full range of testing required for EU Mutual Recognition for chocking resins.
Building on its experience in the marine industry, R-TECH says that it has increased its range of testing to include mechanical testing (static, impact, fatigue and creep), microscopy (optical, digital and SEM), chemical analysis and thermal characterisation. Testing can be performed on GFRP, CFRP, core materials, sandwich panels, adhesives and structural elements. All tests can be done under controlled temperature and humidity. Using our own in-house workshop facilities, we are able to design and build bespoke test rigs to meet customer requirements.
Supporting its testing services, R-TECH explains that it is also able to offer laboratory-based materials investigation services, including reverse engineering, failure analysis, product characterisation and problem solving.
R-TECH is currently working with partners on a £450k project funded by Innovate UK on the development of a continuous monitoring system to provide an early warning of any incipient damage in hydrogen storage tanks used in private and commercial vehicles using hydrogen fuel cell technology. R-TECH is also working with Swansea University and North Thin Ply Technology on the characterisation and modelling of novel thin-ply composite materials.
