Scott Bader Europe Increases Prices of all Crystic Products
Scott Bader is increasing the prices from its European production sites of all Crystic unsaturated polyester, DCPD and Vinyl Ester resins, plus all gelcoats, pigments, bonding pastes and Crystic Crestomer structural adhesive products by 130€/te. The new prices will be applied to all invoiced orders from Monday 25th January 2010 onwards.
This price rise is being implemented in response to very significant further increases in the prices of all key raw materials, such as styrene.
The increase began during the fourth quarter of 2009. It is forecast that these higher raw material prices will remain throughout Q1 2010 and beyond, with all current purchasing indicators showing that these adverse factors will remain in place for the foreseeable future.
Malcolm Forsyth, European Commercial Director, Composites business division of Scott Bader commented: “Scott Bader has been doing all it can in recent months to minimise and absorb the impact of these raw material cost increases. However, with these latest sharp increases we can no longer continue to do so. We must now pass on some of these extra costs to our customers in order to maintain sustainable operating margins for our business. We continue to work very closely with our valued customers to maximize product and process efficiencies where possible, to minimize the impact of these necessary price increases during these challenging times”
AOC to Increase Prices from 30 January 2010
January 30 2010 will see all unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester resins shipped from European plants see an increase of €140 per metric ton.
For products shipped from Thailand and Vietnam plants for Asian customers, the increase for polyester resins is US$0.12 per kg and for vinyl ester resins is US$0.19 per kg.
In Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean, all Polyester resins and gel coats will see increase US$0.06 per pound, and vinyl ester resins will increase US$0.09 per pound.
The United States and Canada will also face an increase in costs for all resins and gel coats. Polyester resins and gel coats will increase US$0.06 per pound (CN$0.14 per kilo), and vinyl ester resins will increase US$0.09 per pound (CN$0.21 per kilo).
The drivers for this increase include rising energy and feedstock prices that have resulted in extraordinarily high raw material price increases. Natural gas prices have steadily increased, while crude oil prices have made a steep change and are now trading at $80 per barrel.
Across the board increases are being experienced with Styrene alone increasing in excess of $0.10/lb due to Ethylene, Benzene and NG. This trend of increases is forecasted to continue throughout the first quarter of 2010.
CCP Announces Price Increase on All Gel Coats, Unsaturated Polyester and Vinyl Ester Resins
Cook Composites and Polymers (CCP) has increased its price for all gel coats and unsaturated polyester resins by $.06 per pound. In addition, vinyl ester resins will increase $.09 per pound. The new pricing will come into effect with shipments made on or after February 7, 2010.
The recent escalation in raw material costs used to produce these products is the driver for this increase. “”CCP acknowledges the impact these actions have on our customers and as such continues to implement cost reduction strategies to help minimize their affect”” said Ken Moran, Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
Price Increase for CoREZYN and Silmar Products
Interplastic Corporation’s Thermoset Resins Division is raising the price of CoREZYN and Silmar brand products by $.06 per pound and includesall polyesters, specialty resins, gel coats, colorants, and putties. Vinyl esters will increase $.09 perpound.
These increases will take effect on all shipments on or after January 30, 2010.
“This price increase has been initiated due to the continued increase of all raw materials used in the processing of polyester, vinyl ester resins, and gel coats. These increases have accelerated in January and can no longer be absorbed by the manufacturers,” explains Wetzel, National Sales Manager, Interplastic Corporation.
