PPG Industries restarted a furnace earlier this month at its Lexington, fibre glass plant, company officials said.

“”We believe this underscores our commitment to the fibre glass industry as a whole and specialty yarn customers in particular,” said Vicki Holt, PPG’s vice president of fibre glass. “Our decision to bring this furnace online positions us to provide customers with value, service and an uninterrupted supply of high quality yarns.””

Fibre glass yarns for specialty materials are used in a variety of applications, such as medical casts, tape, high-temperature insulators, insect screening and other building-related products.
