Manufacturers will learn more about closed moulding and advanced processes in less time than ever before, thanks to LIVE demos presented by Composites One and the Closed Mold Alliance at Booth U24 during CAMX 2019 in Anaheim, 24-26 September.

All demos take place inside a large, enclosed staging area, providing attendees with a safe yet clear view of each process.

“This year, we’re going to break down some of the demos into multiple segments presented on the same or succeeding days, so that manufacturers can focus on the processes and market segments that interest them the most,” said Marcy Offner, Director of Marketing Communications, Composites One. “Ideally, this will help attendees gain and retain more knowledge. With this knowledge, they can empower their team and take business to the next level.”

With the theme of ‘Get Power from Knowledge’, the event will feature demos of vacuum infusion, light resin transfer moulding and advanced processes producing real-life parts for aerospace, transportation, marine, wind energy, consumer recreation and other markets. They include:

  • A multi-segment presentation of a boat hull being built, step by step
  • An aerospace part built, damaged and repaired, also presented in several segments
  • A kayak paddle built from carbon fibre, starting with a video showing the 3D printing of its mould all the way through production
  • A production cell demo outputting skateboards nonstop
  • New technology demos featuring robotic gel coaters, next-gen tooling and other innovations

At CAMX, Composites One will also preview details on their 2020 Workshop Program produced in partnership with IACMI – the Composites Institute.

According to Offner, the demos will feature equipment from Magnum Venus Products (MVP) and tooling from RTM North, North America’s leading authority on Light RTM tooling. With Composites One, both MVP and RTM North are founding members of the Closed Mold Alliance – a resource dedicated to helping manufacturers successfully convert to closed mould and advanced processes.

“Our ‘Get Power from Knowledge’ demos would not be possible without the expertise and support of our supplier partners,” said Offner. They include 3A Composites Core Materials, AOC, Chem-Trend, Chomarat, Mahogany Company, Materia, Magnum Venus Products, Owens Corning, Polynt-Reichhold, RTM North, Solvay, Sworl, United Initiators and Vectorply, along with Composites Manufacturing and CompositesWorld, the event’s media sponsors.
