Pipelife in Chinese plastic pipe joint venture

Pipelife, the joint venture between Solvay SA and Wienerberger Baustoffindustrie AG, said it has signed an agreement with China’s Changzhou Reinforced Plastics Factory (CRPF) for the creation of a new plastic pipe business in China – Changzhou Pipelife Reinforced Plastics Pipe Co Ltd. Pipelife will own 65 pct of the capital and contribute its Shanghai plant, while CRPF will own the remaining 35 pct of the capital and contribute with its international standard Changzhou facilities. “The new company will benefit from Pipelife’s technical expertise and from CRPF’s share of the fast-growing pipes and fittings market in the Shanghai area,” Wienerberger said. Shanghai’s pipe market has grown by over 20 pct annually over the past three years and is expected to continue to expand at the same pace in upcoming years, Wienerberger said
