Peguform has acquired 51 percent of the shares in the Wethje Group, which includes Wethje Carbon Composite, Wethje Kunststofftechnik and Wethje Entwicklungs.

“With the acquisition of this small series specialist in carbon composites, Peguform secures important know-how in the structural component sector which in the medium term will be expanded to cover medium sized and large volume series”, says Klaus Rinnerberger, CEO of the Peguform Group.

The Wethje Carbon Composites Group specialises in the development, design, construction and production of carbon composite materials. These materials have been used for several years both in motor sport and in the aeronautics industry – a tendency which is now beginning to spin off to the car industry.

Wethje is one of Europe’s first companies which has applied this technology and has developed it further, especially for motor sport and for industrial uses, with cycled production lines, in-house mould and pattern making facilities, CNC machining and paintshop.

Wethje has the know-how for making small and medium-sized series in consistent quality and already makes sophisticated structural components, for instance the monocoques for Bugatti and the KTM X-Bow (light-weight sports car), and for a number of other super sports car makers in small series.

The closely networked collaboration envisaged for the future opens up new and exciting opportunities both for Peguform and Wethje. Peguform, one of Europe’s leading plastics processor for the automotive sector, is a global supplier of plastic parts and components and complete system module for car interiors and exteriors. Peguform has the technological expertise for mass production which will create the groundwork for Werthje’s future success in carbon composite technology, while Wethje’s technology and materials competence will allow Peguform to push forward into future technological segments.
