Jeff Adams, Canadian Olympian, Paralympian and World Champion, will climb the 1,776 stairs of the CN Tower on September 20th – in a specially designed wheelchair.
Adams’s twelve-hour climb on behalf of Raising Awareness to New Heights will raise funds – one step at a time – for the Variety Village Outreach Program. The Outreach Program is dedicated to teaching Canadians about the importance of accessibility and the creation of a barrier-free society. To assist with this challenging twelve-hour climb, Adams has designed a custom-made, high-tech wheelchair. Adams’s 13-pound, aluminum and carbon fibre chair was manufactured by Eagle Sportschairs of Atlanta, GA. This lightweight design is equipped with back wheels that are half the size of standard models and adjustable front wheels that will drop below the chair to keep Adams level as he makes his ascent.
