Owens Corning and Bulk Molding Compounds Inc. have launched a joint venture, FastTrak Application Development, to help speed the development of thermoset composite Bulk Molding Compounds (BMC).

The joint venture will be based in Addison, Ill, near BMCi’s headquarters, and focus on application development which helps manufacturers adopt BMC and realize benefits of composites versus traditional materials.

“As a company, we’re committed to growing and developing the use of composites in the marketplace, and by pooling our strengths to drive applications in the BMC market, we help grow applications in the entire industry,” said Jeff Boersma, vice president and managing director of the North American Composites Solutions Business for Owens Corning.

“This joint venture is a natural, given the long relationship between BMCi and Owens Corning and together, I’m confident that FastTrak will be a powerful combination for both our companies and the marketplace,” added Fran Zappitelli, executive vice president of BMCi.
