As part of its ambitious growth plans North Thin Ply Technology (NTPT), has officially opened its new production facility in Zory, Poland.
According to NTPT, the ceremony was held on 15 June 2016 and was attended by the company’s investors and staff, as well as Andrzej Zabieglinski, Vice President, Member of the Board, of Katowice Special Economic Zone, the region’s development agency.
NTPT explains that the new facility in Zory is part of its growth strategy to meet increasing demand for its thin ply and conventional prepregs. This investment has included the installation of a machine dedicated to higher volume prepreg production, allowing the company to ramp up production for higher volume marine and industrial sectors, as well as the traditional high tech applications such as Formula 1 and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
“Poland is a great place for our fast growing business,” says James Austin, CEO of NTPT. “This facility in Zory represents a 300% growth in floor space from our original Polish factory and we plan to manufacture some of the world’s most advanced materials here. We will also commence our new golf shaft manufacturing business during the third quarter.”
NTPT adds that its R&D centre will remain at the company’s headquarters in Switzerland, where the focus will be on developing innovative technologies designed to answer customer’s’ specific challenges.
The Zory facility is now fully operational and NTPT says it is supplying its complete portfolio of products that includes thin ply unidirectional (UD) prepreg of 15-100 g/m2 and conventional UD, woven and biaxial prepreg, based on carbon, glass, aramid and other fibres. The company’s automated tape laying (ATL) equipment, used to produce custom multiaxial preforms from prepreg tapes, has also been successfully relocated to Zory.
The new facility will additionally enable NTPT to develop and grow its portfolio or engineered composite products, which includes machinable composite blocks and high performance composite tubes.
