Swerea SICOMP has begun collaboration with Nordic Aircraft on the development of composite solutions for ultra-light aircraft.

Since 1997, Nordic Aircraft has been engaged in the development of a new, light sport aircraft (Nordic-580) made almost entirely of high-performance composite material. The aim of the NFFP project is to develop and produce a flying prototype, whereby Nordic Aircraft and Swerea SICOMP have joined forces to explore production methods and material systems. The results of this joint R&D effort will increase Nordic Aircraft’s competitive advantage by improving production efficiency and aircraft performance. In addition, the company is gaining more expertise in product development as its contact network continues to grow.

The project is partly funded by NFFP – SMF, a small-enterprise initiative within the National Aviation Engineering Research Programme. The image shows Petter Bladh, Leif Asp and Linus Bladh at Nordic Aircraft’s office in Borghamn.
