Dilutec has developed a family of products that provide special effects to the composite parts, such as metallic or pearlescent finish, among others.
Colorgel Effect, as it was named, is described as ideal for manufacturers of boats, pools, sinks and bathtubs, among other products.
Similarly to when it recently launched a translucent resin and gelcoat system, the idea to create Colorgel Effect came after a query from a client, said Marcos Brambilla, Technical Manager of Dilutec. “We researched the pigments that were most compatible with our gelcoats, then we produced some lots and started the tests. We achieved excellent results, not only in terms of aesthetics, but also chemical resistance,” he said.
For more chemically aggressive applications, such as those in contact with water, Colorgel Effect is supplied with isophtalic resin with NPG. “As for the less complex environments, we use a formulation from orthophthalic resins.”
For now, the silver and black shades will be made available in the market – and within a month, Dilutec will release other shades. “With Colorgel Effect, composite moulders have a secure and resistant option to further improve the finishing of parts,” said Brambilla.
