The Thermoset Resin Formulators Association (TRFA) has received twelve entries so far for its annual Excellence in Polymer Research Award and expects more before the final papers are due this week.

TRFA will announce the award winner on July 27th; with the formal presentation of the award at their 10th Anniversary Meeting, October 28-30 in Orlando, Florida.

According to TRFA, they initiated the award presentation to a student researcher to encourage and recognise advances in the science & engineering of the thermoset polymer industry.  In addition, the association believes the award can provide the recipient with visibility and exposure in the industry. The annual Excellence in Thermoset Polymer Research Award consists of: a $500 cash award and an award plaque; an invitation to present the winning paper at the TRFA annual meeting with complimentary registration; a 2-night accommodation for the winning student at the TRFA meeting’s hotel/venue with an additional travel allowance of up to $500; and posting of the winning paper on TRFA’s website.

In addition to the research award, TRFA invites student posters showcasing research work in the field of polymers, composites or related thermoset technologies. The poster exhibition takes place at the TRFA Annual Meeting during the Table Top Showcase and Reception on October 29th. Registration to the Table Top Showcase is complimentary for all students participating in the poster exhibition. TRFA says participating students have the opportunity to network with representatives of some of the most important suppliers to the thermoset/polymer industry.

TRFA says they have already established a Resume Board to post positions and resumes, as well as a professional membership category for Universities.
