Mitsubishi Rayo of Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan, is planning to launch a new business called Mitsubishi Rayon Carbon Fiber and Composites on April 1st 2013, by integrating its existing group companies in the United States, Grafil and Newport Adhesives and Composites.
Grafil and Newport have operated as separate entities since they were acquired by Mitsubishi Rayon in early 1990’s. Through the launch of Mitsubishi Rayon Carbon Fiber and Composites, and the acquisition of Aldila, Mitsubishi Rayon hopes to boost its presence in the US.
For Mitsubishi Rayon, its carbon fibre and composites materials business is a core business for the next generation and as a result Mitsubishi Rayon will actively support expansion of its global production capacity and development of new technologies to meet the expected increasing demand.
