Ducommun AeroStructures (DAS) has been awarded contracts valued at $12 million for follow-on production programs and spares by two different divisions of The Boeing Company for C-17 wing spoilers and AH-64 Apache helicopter main-rotor and tail-rotor blades.

The C-17 spoiler contract from The Boeing Company in Long Beach, Calif. includes fifteen shipsets of wing spoilers which extends deliveries to December 2003. The C-17 is the newest and most flexible cargo aircraft in the inventory of the U.S. Air Force. The recently acquired Composite Structures unit of DAS has produced all ground and flight spoilers on C-17 production aircraft since 1991.

The Main-Rotor and Tail-Rotor blade contracts from The Boeing Company in Mesa, Ariz. are additive to current production and extend deliveries to December 2003. The Apache rotor blades are designed to withstand direct small arms fire and maintain airworthiness, and are constructed of advanced composites, metals and polymers to exacting standards and tight tolerances. The recently acquired Composite Structures unit of DAS has built every Apache rotor blade since the inception of the program.

Ducommun AeroStructures manufactures large, complex structural components and assemblies in aluminum, specialty alloys such as titanium, metal bond and composites for a wide variety of military and commercial aerospace applications.
