LM Glasfiber will proceed with its plans to build a third Spanish blade factory located in the region of Valencia.
When operational in mid-2007, the factory will start supplying blades to Acciona Windpower for projects that form part of the region’s ambitious 2,300 MW Wind Plan tailored to generate 5,750 GWh of power per year by 2010. This is equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 1.6 million Valencian households.
“We are pleased to announce our new factory in Valencia”, says Søren F. Knudsen, Sales and Marketing Director of LM Glasfiber. “The factory will serve as an integral part of our customers’ local industrial plans and as such provide substantial first-mover advantages in the Valencian wind market. This has been of great importance to Acciona Windpower. Furthermore, the factory strengthens our Iberian manufacturing hub in supplying the growing Southern European market.”
