Jushi and Gibson Fiberglass have restarted the furnace in Jiujiang located in Jiangxi province, China.

It was decided some time ago to completely demolish the original 30,000 MT per year furnace, and replace it with a 70,000 MT furnace which utilizes Jushi’s state of the art fibre manufacturing technology. According to Gibson Fiberglass, this new furnace incorporates technology which significantly improves the quality and consistency of final products and is in line with Jushi’s Environmental Stewardship commitment.

“Jushi decided to increase the capacity of the Jiujiang facility to better serve the rapidly growing Chinese composites market while relieving pressure on exports,” said Joe Peng, President of Gibson Fiberglass. “We anticipate increased demand from the burgeoning wind energy market globally, and are investing during the down economy to be in a position to serve the future needs of the composites market worldwide.”

Jushi is now the second largest fiberglass reinforcement manufacturer in the world and the largest in China. With a capacity of over 870,000 metric tons, Jushi is nearly 3 times as large as its closest Chinese competitors.
