Ju Teng says it has launched the largest mass-production of composite parts world-wide for the electronics market, using RocTool’s innovative processes, producing smartphone and tablet covers.
The Taiwanese provider of computers, communication and electronic devices, equipped with RocTool’s rapid moulding technologies, says it has invested in over a hundred assembly lines to increase production rates.
Ju Teng manufactured over a million smartphone parts in the last quarter of 2013 with RocTool’s technologies. The Taiwanese giant continues to increase production rates and aims to provide one million parts per month.
“RocTool technologies allow mass production to interested actors such as Ju Teng, whose objective is to meet the growing demand for quality electronic parts, designed with innovative materials. At present on the world scale, it represents the largest production of composite parts” states Alexandre GUICHARD, RocTool’s CEO.
Ju Teng says the parts are manufactured using composite materials with thermoplastic resins and reinforced with fibre glass, carbon fibre or other supports. The composite mechanical characteristics adapted to impact resistance can allow producing of parts less than 0.5mm thick. RocTool technologies heat the moulds by induction in seconds, which it says dramatically reduces production time and allows the production of composite parts with optimum surface quality.
“The Major Brands of tablet and smartphones are actively seeking ways of differentiation and performance improvement. The difference therefore leans more and more towards the covers, their materials, weight, and thickness. With RocTool technologies, Ju Teng has not only developed an expertise on complex part designs that are removed directly from the mould, but also the finish which is essential to the touch and perceived quality. This is an unavoidable requirement in consumer electronics, to which we must answer!”, said Li-Yu CHENG, Ju Teng International CEO.
The Taiwanese group has invested more than US$10million in China, to construct a building that can house more than a hundred RocTool fitted production lines, as well as machines for cutting and finalizing of the parts. Ju Teng says it has developed significant production capacity in China and this partnership is targeting new markets for prestigious brands on their very high volume mass production programmes.
To meet the demand of their Asian customers, RocTool has in turn, created a subsidiary in Taiwan and invested in a development centre in Taichung equipped for rapid prototyping and technical customer support.
