JEC Composites Show 2007: Show Outline

  • Monday, 11th December 2006
  • Reading time: about 3 minutes

According to JEC, the purpose of the 2007 Show will be to bring together and showcase the entire value chain, highlighting both the interdependence of all segments and the collective intelligence that goes into the cooperative effort between materials producers, processors, distributors, equipment manufacturers and their customers, the users.

“The JEC Composites Show is the international meeting place for innovation. It mobilises all segments of the composite industry in order to demonstrate to users the advantages of creating with composites. Processors are central to the business, as they represent 57% of the value added to the chain. They design, manufacture and give life to the products, always working closely with their customers. Together, suppliers and customers find the most effective solutions,” says JEC Group General Manager Frédérique Mutel.

>This year’s market trends include:

  • A revival in industrial process development and cost optimisation,
  • The design of very large structures, in America and Asia especially, for the construction and equipment sectors (tanks, pipes, oil & gas pipelines, covers for water processing plants, towers, marinas),
  • A boom for composites in public transport and freight, especially airline business with the third-millennium fleet of aircraft, but also other means of transport like trucks, buses, tramways and trains,
  • A general concern for environmental issues,
  • The development of recycling streams for waste fibres (carbon, glass) and end-of-life composites,
  • “”Green”” composites using plant-based resins and fibres.

The show will feature six sector-specific forums dedicated to end users – more than 50 companies whose innovations are highly regarded at the international level for their added value, meeting and exchanging with an audience of 1,500 professionals. The sectors chosen will be aeronautics, automotive, marine, ground public transport, natural fibre, building & construction. In addition there will be:

  • Technical sales presentations throughout the three-day Show giving visitors the opportunity every 30 minutes to meet with representatives from 45 different companies presenting their products and services,
  • A comprehensive programme of technical demonstrations at the exhibitors’ stands,
  • 100 technical conferences, organised by SAMPE in partnership with JEC for 10 years,
  • Several topical villages (automotive, aeronautics, marine, construction),
  • National and regional pavilions (Germany, China, Brazil, Italy, USA, Canada, Belgium, Czech Republic, Romania, Hungary, Great Britain, …),
  • A “Trends Corner” showcase with the latest composite applications from each sector,
  • An innovation programme, which rewards the best innovations in seven different categories.
  • A composites & Design expo, located just at the Show’s entrance is intended to speed up the interaction between composite professionals and the world of design. It will feature about forty composite projects that won awards in the Composites-On-Tour-2 programme, in which the JEC Group is a partner.
