Interplastic Corporation’s Thermoset Resins Division has received ISO 14001:2004 certification for the Division’s Hawthorne, California and Kent, Washington, manufacturing facilities.

The certification applies to the manufacture of unsaturated polyester resins, gel coats, and colorants.

The ISO 14001 standard is an environmental management system mirrored from the success of the ISO 9000 quality system. It requires the establishment of a management system to help organizations take a more pro-active approach to managing environmental issues. The standard monitors actions that impact the environment and document programs that include the training of employees on regulations and work practices to minimize the potential for an environmental incident. As with ISO 9000, companies certified under ISO 14001 are subject to an outside audit on a regular frequency to ensure the continuing compliance with the requirements of the standard.
