Infra Composites have recently delivered 600m of composite bridge edge profiles in the city of Haarlem, the Netherlands.
According to Infra, all profiles were vacuum infused with typical dimensions of 12m x 4m. They explain that one profile contains 4 different sandwich core materials to handle wind and snow loads, train buffeting, impact loads and occasional load of persons walking on the profiles for maintenance.
Infra explain that composite bride edge profiles are a good, lightweight alternative to concrete, aluminium and stainless steel profiles. Although their primary function is decorative, they also are load-bearing structures that should withstand loads from weather conditions, own weight, vehicle or train buffeting or even collisions.
Infra say their profiles are all designed and mechanically tested by their experts. The composite shells are manufactured with vacuum infusion.
