The steel company Grupo IMSA has acquired the Spanish Lightfield company, Europe’s second largest producer of fiber-glass reinforced plastic laminates, for an amount of around US$10.4mil.

The acquisition, by means of IMSA’s Empresas Stabilit subsisiary, will give Stabilit 65% of the Spanish market, as well as a strong presence in France and Portugal. The purchase is IMSA’s first step in its plan to expand in Europe as Lightfield currently has a 35% share in the total European market.
