At JEC 2007, Huntsman Advanced Materials showcased a range of innovative new products, developed to deliver solutions for the world‘s composites manufacturing industries with key product developments for the aerospace and automotive industries.

The centrepiece of the stand was a new prototype Le Mans racing car being developed by the Pescarolo Sport team using a range of Araldite adhesives and RenShape boards.

Henri Pescarolo, head of the Pescarolo Sport team, was on the stand to present details of the car during Wednesday 4 April 2007. A streaming video showing the development of the Pescarolo Le Mans car played on the stand.

Pescarolo Sport, one of France’s leading Le Mans teams is using some of the most advanced Araldite adhesives and RenShape rapid tooling materials for the development of a new car for the 2007 Le Mans 24 hour Endurance Race. Huntsman is supplying a range of high performance products for prototype development, demonstrated on the vehicle being displayed at JEC. These include:

– RenShape BM 5055, a new epoxy board developed for pre-preg tools. With its very fine surface structure, BM 5055 offers excellent machinability and good dimensional stability. It is also heat resistant up to 140C.
– RenGel SW18 / Ren HY 2404 / HY 5159 gel coat resin. This temperature resistant epoxy system can be polished to a high gloss finish and is also styrene resistant.
– Araldite 2014 is a high strength, two component epoxy paste adhesive. Gap filling and highly resistant to water and chemicals, Araldite 2014 is temperature resistant up to 120C
– Araldite 204 is a one component foaming adhesive originally used in aerospace applications. It comes as an extrudable paste that expands to fill voids and can be used at temperatures up to 120C.

In addition to supplying products, Huntsman will also be making their technical support team’s extensive prototyping expertise available to the Pescarolo engineers
