Hexcel congratulates VSSC on the successful first launch of India’s GSLV Mk III-D1 heavy lift launch vehicle on 5 June 2017.

Hexcel supports VSSC with the supply of carbon unidirectional and woven prepregs for the payload adapters, studs and heat shields.

GSLV-Mk III is capable of launching the 4-ton class of satellites to geosynchronous transfer orbit (GTO). This three-stage vehicle has two solid motor strap-ons (S200), a liquid propellant core stage (L110) and a cryogenic stage (C25). On its first developmental flight the GSLV Mk III-D1 carried a 3136 kg GSAT-19 satellite to a GTO, following the launch from the Second Launch Pad (SLP) at Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.
