Henkel have improved its Hysol PL 7000 epoxy film adhesive so that it is now out-of-autoclave curable.
Since an autoclave is not required for curing, Henkel believe that this advancement will mean that processing costs will be reduced, as well as an increase in manufacturing flexibility for mechanical performance.
Hysol PL 7000 has been formulated to provide excellent performance properties in composite bonding, and is said to demonstrate cohesive strength on pre-cured composite surfaces that have been stored in humid bond shop environments. PL 7000 also exhibits excellent fracture toughness over composite surfaces exhibiting cohesive failure patterns, indicating superior adhesion characteristics.
“Henkel is dedicated to developing advancements in composite bonding technology for aerospace,” said Patrice Buisson, Director of Global Marketing and Business Development, Aerospace, Henkel Aerospace Group. “Hysol PL 7000 is representative of such a technology in that it increases process efficiency and reduces costs for our customers.”
Hysol PL 7000 and the latest aerospace technologies from Henkel will be exhibited during this years SAMPE.
