Freudenberg & Co, Weinheim, Germany, has purchased Chem-Trend Inc, a producer of release agents based in Michigan, USA.

Chem-Trend will become part of Freudenberg’s new Freudenberg Chemical Specialties (FCS) Group, where it says it will continue to operate as a stand-alone business unit. Lee Plutshack, the President & CEO of Chem-Trend, stated, “We are very pleased that Chem-Trend has been acquired by a company that has such a long and successful history of technical and commercial leadership in the markets it serves. As part of this new organization, Chem-Trend will be even better positioned to provide its customers with products and service of exceptional value.”

Chem-Trend provides custom-formulated mould release agents to the composites, die-casting, polyurethane, rubber and tyre industries. Composites mould release agents are supplied through its Chemlease division. Freudenberg is a family-owned company mainly active in the automotive, textile and consumer products industries.
