Formaplex has announced new investment in cutting-edge technology with the purchase of a 5-axis gantry milling machine and two 5-axis machining centres.
The Formaplex Tooling Division states it has purchased a new Dinox 5-axis gantry machine from FPT Industrie S.P.A. “The Dinox increases our 5-axis machining capacity and allows us to meet the growing demand for rapid machining of larger aluminium and steel blocks. It has a machining envelope of 2.5m x 2.2m x 1.1m”, explains Formaplex Tooling Operations Manager, Ben Yule. “This investment further demonstrates our commitment to providing world-class tooling and component solutions”, he adds.
According to Formaplex the newly launched Dinox 5-axis machine will be installed at Formaplex’s Havant facility in October 2014. Before it is shipped to the UK, Formaplex and FPT Industrie S.P.A. will showcase the machine at the AMB International Exhibition for Metalworking in Stuttgart, Germany, in September.
In addition, the Formaplex Pattern Manufacturing Division has increased its capacity with the purchase of two CMS Antares 5-axis machining centres.
“The purchase of these Antares machines provides further capacity to meet the demands of our F1 and aerospace customers whose work requires rapid 5-axis machining”, comments Formaplex Composites Operations Manager, Rob Carter. “The purchase follows investment in two new CMS Aries 5-axis machines in 2013 and we expect to see further 5-axis investment across the group very shortly”.
