Flexadux Switches to Urethane Acrylate Resin

Flexadux Plastics has switched to Scott Baders Crystic Crestapol 1214 pultrusion resin as part of their continuous improvement and product innovations program.

Initial tests showed mechanical performance improvements of the urethane acrylate over their previous resin, and worked with Scott Bader to ensure that the resin met both their technical and production needs. Flexadux now specifies Crestapol 1214 for GRP pultruded profiles used in high performance energy, gas, minerals, mining and tunnelling applications.

In addition to technical performance improvements in their pultruded profiles, the switch to Crestapol 1214 resin has also provided production benefits. Mr. Ian McComb, operations manager for Flexadux Plastics Ltd. explained: A major plus for us is Scott Baders flexibility. We can order in optimal batch sizes, which we prefer. Scott Bader is also happy to do production process development work with us. In fact, we are just about to test a higher reactivity version of Crestapol 1214 to try to improve line speeds.

Crestapol 1214 is the latest addition to Scott Baders pultrusion resin range. It has been developed for making profiles where there is a requirement for very low shrink and a high quality surface finish and can be heavily ATH filled up to 200phr to achieve a range of fire, smoke and toxic fumes standards specified for some building, construction, rail and mass transportation applications.
