Reichhold’s Pons, France manufacturing facility experienced a fire on last Thursday, April 24. The facility manufactures gel coats and bonding pastes for the composites industry.

A fire brigade from the city of Pons responded to the incident immediately and contained the fire which was brought under control and extinguished at after about 2 hours. The local fire brigade is monitoring the situation.

Preliminary information indicates that the fire started in the northwest corner of the manufacturing building due to the accidental spill of a flammable liquid which ignited. Two employees that received minor injuries during the fire were treated and released the same day.

The full extent of the damage at the Pons facility is currently being assessed. Initial damage assessment indicates that the Pons warehouse and bulk storage facility are intact.

Reichhold is shifting production scheduled for the Pons facility to other Reichhold plants in Europe.
