Fiberline Composites has developed a new calculation program to meet construction industry needs for dimensioning GRP profiles.
The Fiberline calculation program is an online tool created to help architects, engineers and technicians design large GRP structures and stimulate further growth in the use of composites in the building sector.
“GRP construction profiles are a new building material that many architects, engineers and construction engineers have not yet worked with. This means we must make special efforts to make it easy and convenient to use our products,” explains Lars Petersen, Technical Solution Manager at Fiberline Composites.
Against this background, Fiberline Composites have developed a calculation program that enables the designer to measure and engineer construction profiles on-line. The program is available free of charge to all interested parties registering as users.
“”If you’re selling timber or steel beams, the information you supply to customers need not be highly complex. The technology is well known. But we produce an exciting new material that has other properties, and this means there are many technical questions that have to be answered before a customer decides to build a bridge or other structures using composite,”” says Lars Petersen.
Composite profiles from Fiberline have been demonstrated in a number of European building projects to be a real alternative as well as a supplement to aluminium, steel, timber or concrete.
The new calculation program has been tested at the Aachen University of Technology by a team led by Professor G. Sedlacek, EngD. Mr. H. Trumpf, Senior Researcher and MSE, highlights the user-friendliness of the program.
“The fast and practical program functions well online. In our conclusion, it is an outstanding tool for dimensioning GRP profiles. Having a new program for GRPs is a very positive development, since existing calculation programs can only dimension steel profiles,” says Mr. Trumpf.
The program can be tested at the Fiberline website:
