During this year’s Composites Europe Show, President of the European Composites Industry Association (EuCIA), Mr. Volker Fritz, delivered the introductory speech for the fourth edition of this show where he was able to highlight the organizations three-tier Grow, Know, Show strategy.
Part of this was to show that composite materials can often be recycled in a way that is compliant with EU legislation.
In order to prove the validity of the recyclability of thermoset composite parts, a joint position paper was drafted by EuCIA together with the European Plastics Converters (EuPC) and the European Composite Recycling Service Company (ECRC)
EuCIA, in conjunction with NetComposites, were also able to introduce a series of EU–financed projects for sustainable composites. These included Natex, BioStruct and Woody, all of which were presented to the public for the first time during the bio-composites forum.
For three days, more than 300 exhibitors showcased technologies and products covering the entire value chain of fibre- reinforced plastics. With new themes, new special forums and a 15% increase in the number of exhibitors, Composites Europe has grown year upon year.
Mr. Fritz noted: “Looking back since Composites Europe took place for the very first time, we can all agree that this event went through an amazing development and today we are all witnessing a success story.”
